M.A.R.S. Needs a Logo!
MARS (MPLS Autonomous Radical Space) – that’s us – is an anti-authoritarian collective opening a new space in south Minneapolis by early 2011. To strengthen cultures of resistance, we plan to create a social and political activity hub offering meeting space, a radical library/infoshop, independent mediamaking center, event space, regular workshops and skillshares, and more. In our organizing, we aim to actively challenge heteropatriachy, white supremacy, economic injustice, and other forms of domination and oppression.
We’re looking for a logo that will represent who we are, what we do, and what will happen in the space.
In search for the perfect graphic, we’ve decided to have a contest. The guidelines: The logo must have the acronym MARS in it and it must be legible. The winning design will preferably be something that will be easy to screen print and to print in one color (although full color originals are great). Some ideas of themes to think about are local radical history, community in south Minneapolis, our geographical location, radical leftist/anarchist politics, and d.i.y. culture. You can also look at the themes in our mission statement at https://radspacetc.wordpress.com.
Submissions are due November 30. Send high-quality electronic files as an attachment to radspacetc@gmail.com, or write this email address for instructions on submitting in a non-electronic format. There will be a prize for the winner – and all entries that follow our guidelines will be displayed in some form at the new space.
