Cece (Crishaun) McDonald is an exceptional young woman currently incarcerated by Hennepin County. She and some friends were attacked by a group outside of the Schooner Tavern on Lake Street on June 5th. She was then singled out and accused for second degree murder after one of her attackers (who had a swastika tattoo on his chest) was killed. CeCe was supporting 4 other youth at the time of her arrest, and she needs our support. As a transgender woman of color, CeCe faces a fractured system and has already been treated inhumanely by Hennepin County. Transgender women of color are murdered at a rate 16 times the national average – more than one murder per month nation-wide. Institutional bias and ignorance on the part of county officials is evident, and what was already an unjust situation is unbearable. For more info: http://supportcece.wordpress.com
Get down! Don’t let them get you down! Come together with others that don’t tolerate oppressive bullshit.
