Gasland – Monday September 12

All across America rural landowners are waking up to find lucrative offers from energy companies wanting to lease their property. In the hopes of tapping into a reservoir dubbed the “Saudi Arabia of natural gas,” Halliburton developed a way to get the gas out of the ground through a process called “fracking.” Suddenly America finds itself on the precipice of becoming an energy superpower.

Totoro (kid friendly) – Monday September 19

Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki provides a stunning portrayal of life in the country. When their mother is hospitalized, two young sisters spend a summer in the Japanese countryside with their father. The strange new environment turns out to be a wonderland filled with exotic real-life creatures and a trio of furry woodland sprites who can only be seen by children.

All Power to the People – Monday September 26

A documentary that examines the history of American race relations and the Black Panther Party (founded in 1967). The film covers slavery, civil-rights activists, assassinations in the 1960s, and explores methods used by police, the FBI, and the CIA to divide and destroy the key figures in the Black Panthers.
