U.S. and Canadian authorities are pumping increasingly greater resourcesinto investigating and pursuing politically motivated property destruction. Currently 5 comrades are being extradited to Canada to face charges for alleged G20-related property damage. At the same time in the Pacific Northwest, several grand jury resisters have been jailed and expansive resources spent, in relation to an investigation of property damage at the 2012 May Day protests in Seattle.
*Why is the state putting more resources into prosecuting property damage, and how do our strategic and tactical choices in struggle affect the repression we face?*
Speakers will include:
-David Pellow (U of M professor of Sociology and member of Scholars for Academic Justice): Prof. Pelllow will give historic context and explore patterns of state repression.
-Sebastian (friend of Dane Rossman): Sebastian will discuss how G20 repression is going international with the Canadian government’s extradition of 5 Americans for alleged offenses stemming from the 2012 G20 protests in Toronto.
