What’s the Not So Macho Music Collective? You may ask.

Here’s a description:
We aim to create a network of people interested in fostering a music community that is available to everybody and especially for those who would need to fight to make a place for themselves within the music scene at large. We hope to create noncompetitive and nonhierarchical spaces where folks can feel supported to speak truth to power and talk about uncomfortable experiences.

We believe that….
-anyone can play music
-everyone deserves to be heard
-talent and skill shouldn’t be prerequisites for artistic expression
-you don’t have to be professional to be valid

In connecting to us via the listserv or on facebook, you can expect to be invited to events such as open mics, jam nights, and concerts. You can use it to connect with other musicians to collaborate with and find rad instrument instructors. AND you can use it to promote your own events.

We are based in the Twin Cities.
