Minneapolis Autonomous Radical Space (MARS) Collective Mission Statement for Minnehaha Free Space
Minnehaha Free Space is a volunteer run and collectively organized community center and activist hub with space for meetings, classes, and public events. The main room, computers, wifi internet, copier, kitchen, gender-neutral bathrooms, lending library, and kids’ room are available for public use during events and regular open hours. In providing this space, our intentions are:
- To reduce social isolation
- To expand possibilities for social support and connection outside of the system of capitalist exchange
- To combat gentrification in the Longfellow neighborhood
- To strengthen cultures of resistance to oppression, especially for those who are marginalized in dominant society.
